The heritage-listed Walter Reid Cultural Centre building was originally constructed in 1902 for Rockhampton wholesaler Walter Reid & Co. Today the building is a proud and prominent feature of the city’s historic warehouse precinct.
In 2015 and 2016, McMillan Heritage Plastering was entrusted with the task of completing significant traditional plaster restoration works on the exterior façades of both East Street and Derby Street.
These works included re-sealing the building’s entire horizontal parapet using the traditional scrub-fine technique, in-addition to re-surfacing the face front of decorative mouldings and solid existing plasterwork.
McMillan Heritage Plastering also replaced the original coat-of-arms and globe features on Derby Street, and repaired and waterproofed the building’s basement.
